City Offers New Resource for Licenses, Permits, and Incentives - NYC Business Express

Starting and operating a business in New York City can be challenging. Between raising capital, finding space, and organizing internally, entrepreneurs and business owners do not have time to spare.  With the launch of NYC Business Express, doing business in New York City is now easier.  The City's new online tool reduces paperwork and time while providing easy access to critical information needed to run a business in New York City.  The NYC Business Express Incentives Estimator can even help businesses determine the City, State and Federal incentives for which they may qualify.

Before the launch of NYC Business Express, an entrepreneur had to contact the City, State, and Federal governments separately to learn what would be necessary to start a business.   NYC Business Express consolidates information from all levels of government in one location.  By using the NYC Business Express Wizard, entrepreneurs can answer questions that set up a business scenario.  NYC Business Express then generates a customized list of licenses, permits, taxes, and regulations that are typically needed, as well as information about where to apply, links to application materials, and contact information where applicants can access help with applying.  For some business licenses, permits, and certifications, business owners can even apply directly through the site.

The tools that NYC Business Express offers are not limited to startup entrepreneurs.  As of today, there are thirty-three licenses that businesses can apply for directly through the website and more are continually being added.  Operating businesses will also soon be able use their NYC Business Express account to manage their relationship with the City, enabling them to view everything from the status of their applications to previous violations.  NYC Business Express is a user-friendly portal into government that anyone can understand.

Considering going into the real estate business and want to know about required licenses and government incentives?  Expanding your restaurant and need a Sidewalk Café license?  Learn more and apply online at www.nyc.gov/BusinessExpress.
