Sanitation

sanitationSanitation Maintenance

The BID has a contract with a private sanitation maintenance company, which provides services to keep the District streets and sidewalks free of litter, trash and debris during business hours seven days a week.  This has resulted in outstanding sanitation scores from NYC Department of Sanitation throughout 2007 and 2008.  The sanitation company’s other responsibilities include removal of snow from the crosswalks, handicapped cutouts and bus shelters.

Security Patrols

The Hub Third Avenue BID is patrolled daily by the 40th Precinct Hub Unit.  In addition, the BID contracts an outside security company, which assists the 40th Precinct Hub Unit  in deterring crime and keeping the area free of illegal peddlers and other quality of Life crimes.  Through the efforts of the Hub Third Avenue BID and the 40th Precinct Hub Unit, crime in the District is rapidly decreasing.  Joint cooperation on the parts of both parties has made the district a safe haven for shoppers, merchants and community residents.

security3Security Cameras

In 2008 the BID completed phase 1 of its video surveillance camera program.  The cameras are online 24 hours a day and are monitored by both the 40th Precinct and the BID.  The cameras have helped greatly in deterring and reducing crime in the area at all times of the day and night.  Phase 2 will include the installation of additional cameras resulting in an even greater area of observation.

Promotions

Promotions and Street Festivals

promotions1The BID holds three major sale promotions during the year.  Our Bronx Week Promotion is held in June and culminates with an eight block street festival.  This is followed by our annual Back to School promotion and street festival in August.  Our winter promotion runs through the month of December.  During all our promotions we hold giveaways to benefit our community, such as free backpacks during the Back to School event.

Winter Holiday Programs

Shortly before Thanksgiving, the BID contracts for holiday lights to be installed throughout the District.  These are lit every evening at dusk and remain in place until after Kwanzaa, lending a warm and festive atmosphere to our shopping environment.  During this season, the BID co-sponsors and contributes to several community toy drives in the hopes we can help our area provide that no child is forgotten during the holiday season.

promotions2Advertising Opportunities

The BID provides numerous opportunities for our merchants to advertise with as part of our District in both English and Spanish language newspapers and cable TV, as well as with locally distributed flyers.  In addition, from time to time our merchants may post their promotions, discounts, and other information of interest to shoppers here on this website at BID merchant discounts.
